Stripe IPO 2026 — Why the Most Profitable Fintech Is in No Rush to List
Stripe processed over $1 trillion in payment volume in 2025. Its February 2026 tender offer valued the company at $159 billion — the most valuable private fintech on earth. Unlike SpaceX or OpenAI, Stripe doesn't need public capital. It's already profitable. So why would it ever IPO, and what does the answer tell you about timing?
What is BellipoBellipo is the first platform built entirely around the IPO lifecycle — from S-1 filing to first trade, lockup expiration, and beyond. We deliver real-time pipeline tracking, AI-powered S-1 briefs, and proprietary demand scoring, plus precision alerts: PING fires when pricing becomes official — typically the evening before trading, occasionally the morning of, always before the open — carrying the final offer price. STRIKE fires the instant the first trade prints. Retail investors get to prepare for IPO day with the same intelligence institutions take for granted.
Learn moreThe Profitable Exception
Most companies go public because they need capital. Stripe would go public because its employees need liquidity. That single distinction reshapes the entire deal. When a company files for money, the IPO is a fundraising event — dilutive, often priced aggressively to maximize what's raised. When a company files for liquidity, the company holds the leverage: it can take its time on pricing and is far less likely to overprice the book.
Stripe has run tender offers in 2023 at $50B, 2024 at $91.5B, and 2026 at $159B — each at a higher mark than the last. Every successful tender is another reason to delay the listing. The question was never whether Stripe goes public. It's whether 2026 is the year the tender window finally closes.

What $159B Gets You
Stripe's revenue is estimated above $20B a year with positive operating margins — almost unheard of among pre-IPO companies at this scale. Payment processing throws off predictable, recurring revenue that compounds with e-commerce itself.
At $159B, Stripe trades at roughly 8x revenue — rich by payments standards, but reasonable next to the AI cohort. If the S-1 confirms profitability and 30%+ growth, this could be one of the most straightforward large-cap offerings in years.
The Timing Signal
Patrick and John Collison have long been skeptical of public markets. But three forces are converging, and each one tightens the window.
Three Forces Closing the Window
01Employee pressure
Early employees who joined in 2015–2018 have waited 8–11 years for liquidity. At some point, the clock outweighs the founders' reluctance.
02Competitive positioning
Adyen, Block, and PayPal are all public. Stripe's private status is now the anomaly in its own peer set.
03Market window
The 2026 IPO market is the strongest since 2021, lowering execution risk for a deal this size.

How Bellipo Tracks Stripe
Bellipo keeps every launch that matters in one place — a single command center for the IPOs you actually care about, so you're not juggling ten browser tabs, a broker app, and a news feed when the filing finally lands. Stripe sits on the Whisper List at the RADAR stage today, with no S-1 yet — the tender marks, payment volume and reported PayPal bid are tracked in the Stripe IPO dossier. The BDI demand read is coming soon, and the moment Stripe files, they go to work on the deal: financials, cap structure, underwriters, comparable outcomes, and the risks that matter — the S-1 distilled into what you actually need before the first trade.
The alerts are launching soon. PING will fire when Stripe's pricing becomes official — typically the evening before trading, sometimes the morning of, always before the open — carrying the final offer price. STRIKE will fire the instant the first share trades, so you won't refresh a dead ticker for hours. And ORBIT will track the post-IPO window after the open — where the base forms and the real story plays out in the days that follow. The Dossier and BDI are ready today; the alerts and ORBIT are coming shortly — all in the same place, so you manage the whole lifecycle without leaving Bellipo.

Stripe is the rare mega-IPO that gets to dictate its own terms. It doesn't need the money, which means it can wait for the perfect window — and when that window opens, the deal could be one of the cleanest large-cap listings in a decade. The investors who handle it well won't be the ones reacting to a headline. They'll be the ones who read the Dossier the night Stripe files and walked in with a plan.
